QUALITY MANUAL & POLICIES "4.2.1
purposes of quality manuals ... Quality manuals may be used by organizations
for purposes including but not limited to: a) communicating the company's
policy, procedures and requirements; b) implementing an effective quality
system; c) providing improved control of practices and facilitating assurance
activities; d) providing the documented bases for auditing quality systems; e)
providing continuity of the quality system and its requirements during changing
circumstances; f) training personnel in the quality system requirements and
method of compliance; g) presenting their quality system for external purposes,
such as demonstrating compliance with ISO 9001, 9002 and 9003; h) demonstrating
compliance of their quality systems with required quality standards in
contractual situations.

PROCEDURES Description of the activities of
the individual functional units needed to implement the quality system
elements.
10.3
DETAILED WORK DOCUMENTS These should
contain those instructions "... important to the quality of the
product" for the use of the lowest level qualified people doing the
job (including "trainees" if they are allowed to work unsupervised).
They may be written procedures, "traveling documents", flow charts,
may use pictures to demonstrate standards of performance. They may be in
electronic format. The documents must be controlled to prevent the use of
outdated or otherwise unapproved documents.
